The word 'Ki' translated philosphically is described as 'energy' or 'universal force energy'
Therefore, Reiki can be defined as spiritual energy or spiritually guided life force.
Everything that is alive contains 'Ki' and for those that receive a Reiki attunment have their energy channels opened which connects them to the universal endless supply of 'Ki'. This allows the healer to channel this enery into the recipient through his or her hands or at a distance.
Anyone can benefit from Reiki as it is a totally safe natural form of healing. It can help with most conditions and be used on the elderly, young, people recovering from surgery and pregnant women.
Along with any kind of holistic, alternative therapy it should not be used to take the place of orthodox medicine.
